First of all, it's no longer Misha Huntting, it's Misha Dumois! Woo Hoo! Got married! but for google search and general laziness reasons we're gunna stick with Huntting on this website.

That's me on the left :) and the ridiculously gorgeous Annie on the right. A friend, a muse and the lovely model for the Empress card btw ;)
Our wedding photographer was Hannah at Cryptic Fish. Wonderful to work with!
Okay onto the business! I've had a fair amount of people asking for the deck again. Not millions mind you but what they lack in numbers they make up for in passion and persistence. Which has encouraged me to consider other options for printing the deck for those that want it and not just that, but at the most wonderful time of the yearrrrr!!! Aka the time when people give gifts. So me and the very talented and awesome co creator, Christa Harden, started trying to cook up ideas to accommodate the few that would like to have one. I will no longer be printing a big run and then trying to unload them through various methods of sale and promotion. Although this is the less expensive option, it is going to turn out better for me if we can print them to order. This will take a little longer to deliver but it allows me to still offer them to those that want them. Christa will be taking the order from me at her Print Shop in Battleground, Wa. known as Battleground Printing (yay small business!) shipping them back to me and then I will in turn, ship them to you.
Having stepped away from the project for a bit has helped me to not be quite so married to a lot of the bells and whistles of the deck that were time consuming and expensive. 1. they will be STANDARD tarot card size. 2. There will not be a box or a sticker, just a lovely muslin bag to keep them in. And finally 3. they will no longer have the minor arcana.
To be honest with you, I use a deck that contains only the illustrated cards and have just as accurate of a reading. I know some might agree with this, some might not and although I love the minor arcana, it will be a deck of only the artwork at about 38 cards.
Along with my deck I've been working on a lot more artwork and different styles and mediums that I will be listing there as well to purchase as prints.
I just finished this gift for my husband the other day in fact.
Which I will be making print ready for sale on etsy very soon. So please check back often to my shop as I will be uploading SOMETHING just about every day and hopefully turning out new pieces every couple weeks. Also I think I might have a solid thing cooked up as a customizable Christmas Postcard so look out for that.
If your still reading this, thanks for hangin' in there and still checking in with me after my required step away.
I finished 2 more cards yesterday! A bootlegger and a railroad tycoon :) Now I only have 1 more card left, my King of Cups. I'm feeling a little stuck on it. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it up today! then a few more details on the book and I'm done! There are a couple of problems though lol but I consider them fun challenges.
1. Well I was chipping ice off of my stupid frozen over freezer yesterday with a hammer and a chunk of ice flew into my eye. Yes it hurt like a bitch, but thankfully it's mostly fine, but to prevent infection I've been instructed to wear this lol
yep lol I will be finishing the King of Cups and the book with this on most likely, so when you draw the King of Cups..think of me lol
My mother and tarot enthusiast of the past 30 years, has graciously offered to edit my tarot book for grammar and sentence structure, however, after the snow storm hit New England right before Halloween, she lost power and is expected to be without it for another week. Good thing she bought a generator! and has enough firewood cut for the whole season! She tells me she will be editing it through this and mailing me a disk with the corrections since she doesn't have internet. What a blessing to have her! and what a trooper!
My mother is a feng shui consultant by trade, here is a link to her website :)

Christa has done all the graphic design for the cards, which I am VERY pleased with! She's a wonderful Graphic Designer to work with, easy going, a good listener and a practical thinker. I definitely recommend her! Her and her lovely husband own a print shop near Portland

Thanks for your support, as always! And let me know if you have questions at all about the art, your reading, a specific card, etc. Before or after purchase.
you know, as a visual artist, I tend to despise verbally explaining myself. I, for some reason feel like the idea of the piece should be apparent, which is kind of foolish.
The idea of writing the book to accompany my tarot cards has been frightening me for weeks now. I kept putting it off and thinking to myself "I'm not a writer!! it's going to suck!!"
Well after finally talking myself into devoting real time to it this week I've realized something about myself.
1. I am a storyteller
2. Even though it's been years since I have given readings, I'm still very good at it.
I am a storyteller, I LOVE to explain the meaning behind my cards to people and the history behind them. I love to tell other people about a person in the pasts' struggles and triumphs. I love American underbelly history and folklore and become very excited when someone asks me "hey what happened to that person" and I know the answer. My story telling methods I can thank my dad for. He is a very captivating story teller and no matter how many times I hear them, I always love hearing one again. I have adopted a lot of his characteristics when I tell my stories. What more is writing the story of each card down than story telling? Hang on, I got this :)
I'm good at giving readings. I used to do it all the time and I enjoy connecting with people and helping them through their problems. I love the look of epiphany on a person's face when they realize something they hadn't before during a reading. It's a great time in someone's life and I get to share it for a moment and maybe even contribute. How awesome is that? Which is one of the reasons, when this deck is done. I'll be offering my assistance with the deck by booking as many readings as possible with my very own deck! Also it seems to come kind of natural to me, something else takes over in a sense and I feel like it's something I'm meant to do more.
With these 2 factors I have a book! and it's mostly done too. As you can probably tell, from my blogs, I'm the queen of fragmented sentences and grammatical errors though. So thankfully my mom is going to help me edit the book and with her vast Tarot knowledge she can also offer some suggestions on my interpretations of each card.
Here is an example of my interpretation of one card in particular , pre mom edit. Hope it gives an idea of the road I am taking this deck down :) It's kind of eerie, how I went down one road with this card and wasn't sure why until I did more research. The Hanged Man, I chose to portray a Lincoln Conspirator and wasn't sure why other than I wanted an outlaw and this man's final photograph is one of the most haunting pictures I have ever see., even though it wasn't really relevant to the meaning of the card, or so I thought. Turns out in Italy this card was also referred to as "The Traitor" because it was common to hang traitors up by their ankles, painful and humiliating I'm sure. Kind of spooky, and it keeps happening with each card! Anyway, Hope you like it! :) feedback is encouraged, positive or negative.
The Hanged Man XII
Lewis Payne or Powell was a lesser known Lincoln Conspirator. His main crime was an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate the secretary of state. After Powell was arrested, detained on a military vessel and photographed, he was executed by hanging. His neck was so strong that he hung for 5 minutes before finally dying. This card in Italy was often referred to as Il Traditore (The Traitor) where at the time it was a common punishment to hang traitors by their feet.
Although the meaning of this card has changed over the years there continues to be a positive way and a negative way to approach the predicament of hanging upside down without the safety and comfort of gravity. Upright this card refers to a sacrifice and surrender of control. Accept that surrendering to the things you cannot change can sometimes be very liberating. Reversed this card represents confusion and a false calling. Sometimes when you have your blinders on or are upside down for example, it’s hard to see things outside of yourself and the big picture. Instead of being baffled by your loss of footing try to go with the flow of change.
For the last couple of months Mike Folden has been working with me on creating a video that helps describe my work and how it all comes together at the suggestion of a couple of professionals who's opinion I trust very much. Apparently it's been difficult to understand the medium for some people who would like a user friendly explanation of "What" it is.
I personally feel that the goal of an artist is to express a feeling or idea in their head and in order to succeed at that, an artist should use whatever is necessary and available to convey that image from their brains. Mediums don't matter too much to me.It's a means to an end.
Being diverse is not celebrated nearly enough in the art world. Using a variety of skills that you have picked up in your lifetime and meshing them into one package whether it be technical skills you picked up in art school or something you learned working as a graveyard waitress in a diner, it all has it's purpose and can be turned into something useful.
I am a painter who went to photography school. I do portraits, nice, clean portraits. I also take very disturbing, raw and gritty photos. In school I was told I needed to focus on one thing. People often asked me why I was doing photography? In my paintings I felt something was missing. Portraiture is fun, but without a theme or environment I felt like I wasn't doing it much justice and photography has great potential for texture and realism . I could create environments, sample textures , collect places and things and combine them with my illustration perspective and there it was! I got what I had always been wanting to see, what was in my head was finally there.
Enough Soapbox, with that said Mike Folden did a REALLY excellent job of conveying what it is I do in under 3 minutes, showing you a piece from start to finish, making it interesting and expressing to the viewer who I am. The amount of effort he put into this is astounding and I'll always be grateful that I had just the right person for the job.
Now a couple of announcements
I'm excited to say that I will have an opening for all my new work in December back on Capitol Hill again for the first time in 3 years. I am excited after doing shows in other cities this year to hopefully have a big fun opening with all my local friends soon. With luck and a lot of hard work, I might also have the Tarot Deck with me at that time. I have a plan to make it happen and we'll hope it goes according to it. The people that have been going out of their way to come to house and model have been a big part of making this deadline and I'm really very grateful.
I have been accepted to the Twilight Arts collective for both my multi media work and my paintings which is extremely exciting for me and means I will soon have prints, pendants and paintings in their West Seattle location for sale.
For the moment I have to focus on painting and merchandise and then it's nose to the grindstone to complete this deck in time for Christmas. The accomplishment of that would be the best Christmas present there is for me.
